Will Exchequer stop working if we stop paying maintenance?

On your own servers or hosted, and what to check in your contract.

Please note: this is based on our own experience, not legal advice. Your contract is what counts.

The short answer

As far as we know, Exchequer has no logic that stops it running when maintenance ends. If it runs on your own servers, it will most likely carry on working.

If Exchequer is hosted for you

Things are different if Advanced or a partner hosts Exchequer for you. Access depends on that hosting agreement, so ending it may end your access. Check the notice period and ask how you'll get your data before the service stops.

What to check in your contract

  • Whether you're licensed to keep using Exchequer after maintenance ends
  • Whether you'll be asked to remove or disable the software
  • Any notice period, and the date it runs to
  • Whether a Right to Use or archive licence is offered or required. See our RTU guide

"Still working" isn't the same as "safe"

Without maintenance there are no fixes. A Windows update, a server move or a database change could stop Exchequer working, and there may be nobody to fix it. That's why a copy of your data, in files you can open without Exchequer, matters more once maintenance stops.

Take your data out before you stop paying One licence, every company, run it as often as you like.
